Disobedient and Disrespectful Children

Disobedient and disrespectful children really get me heated.  There is nothing more disturbing than watching a child disrespect an adult, especially their own parents,  but in today’s society that seems to be the “in” thing.  Not in my house.!  I was raised by my grandparents where saying words like lie, fart, butt or fool would warrant a whooping. I gasp to hear the things that come out of children nowadays.  Yahweh even listed respecting and honoring your parents as one of the top 10. And, it is the 1st commandment with a promise.  Honor your father and mother that your days may be lengthened on this earth.  So, if it made the top 10 then it has to be important.  Now, let me break this down for you.  We are children of the Creator, right? And, as children He has given us specific rules and guidelines that we must follow, yet we continue to be disobedient and rebellious.  If we want the best for our children and try to shield them from harm and hurtful experiences, why wouldn’t our Heavenly Father do the same for us? When our children are disobedient we often put them on punishment and pray that they have learned a lesson from their bad choices.  Well, the same is true with Yahweh.  When we have sinned we will pay the consequences, but it is His grace that allows us to learn from the experience and do better.  So, the next time things aren’t going as we plan or as we want, remember that we have a Father that loves and corrects us; and in our obedience to Him we shall receive His best for our lives.

Looks can be deceiving

I remember being a little girl and seeing this piece of chocolate candy that I wanted so badly.  My grandmother, whom I affectionately and lovingly call Momma, instructed me that the particular piece of candy that I wanted was not for children and it was for grown- ups.  But, it was a yummy looking little square block of chocolate that I wanted so badly that when she wasn’t looking a sneaked a piece and boy did I pay for it.  It turns out that piece of candy really wasn’t candy at all, but Ex-lax.  Yeah, I know you guys remember that chocolate laxative.  (Laughing out loud).  Needless to say, I learned my lesson and from that point on if Momma said it wasn’t for me, then I didn’t touch it!  Now let’s use that story to compare our Christian life.  We see something that we want and it looks really good to our natural eye, but God tells us no because He sees the consequences of that thing in the future.  He is looking out for what is best for us; yet we often feel like He is keeping something from us, only to go after that thing and suffer horrible consequences.   We see what we want in the natural and BELIEVE it is good.  He sees what we want in the supernatural and KNOWS that it is not good.  Let us try harder to put our complete trust in God no matter what the circumstances because He will withhold no GOOD thing from us.  Remember, everything that looks good is not always good for you.
