God says, "No" but you say "Yes"

If you have children then I am sure you can relate to this post. From the moment the infant begins to crawl and then walk things rapidly change.  They obtain a sense of freedom and love the idea of being able to finally do things on their own.  They become curious and want to put their hands on everything.  We, as parents are consistently and constantly telling them, “No, don’t touch that or No, leave that alone.” Then, when they think we aren’t looking they are right back at it again. LOL.

Sometimes, when they are older and can understand what the meaning of “NO” really is they still want to go after that which they shouldn’t, so we let them; only to their amazement it wasn’t what they thought it was.  Maybe there was candy that they thought was sweet, but it really wasn’t candy; it was only disguised as candy and then when they eat it they find that it was the most bitter, horrible tasting thing they ever could have put into their mouths.  They learned, but they learned the hard way.  This is how we are with God.  You see we want what we want and we want it NOW! And, even though HE (Daddy) is telling us “NO” He allows us to go through because of our constant nagging only to later end up at the “I should have listened” stage.  We have to learn to trust God and know that HE knows what is best for us.  We have to learn to be obedient in order to save heartache and heartbreak down the line.  We can’t continue to do what is wrong and then wonder why we are being chastised.  He chastises us just as we do our own children. Why? Simple, because He loves us.

HELP! I've fallen and I can't get up....Where is your Life Alert?

Picture
In 1989, LifeCall began running commercials which contained a scene wherein an elderly woman, identified by a dispatcher as "Mrs. Fletcher", uses the medical alert pendant after having fallen in the bathroom. After falling, Mrs. Fletcher speaks the phrase...

"I've fallen, and I can't get up!"  after which the dispatcher informs her that he is sending help.

This line was spoken in a television commercial for a
medical alarm and protection company called LifeCall. The motivation behind the systems is that subscribers, mostly senior citizens as well as the disabled, would receive a pendant which, when activated, would allow the user to speak into to an audio receiving device and talk directly with a dispatch service, without the need to reach a telephone. The service was designed to appeal particularly to seniors who lived alone and who might experience a medical emergency, such as a fall, which would leave them alert but immobile and unable to reach the telephone. (Wikepedia)

Well, this is the manner in which we need to call to our Heavenly Father.  Jesus is our “Life Alert” we need to call on HIM and then say Father, HELP ME...I’ve fallen and I can’t get up.  If we really mean those words and repent of the sin that has weighed us down HE is there to lift us up to safety each time.  We don’t need the preacher, best friend, mother, sister, brother or father.  All we need is to go to Him in the name of Jesus and HE will save us.  There is no need to stay down when your Life Alert is just a prayer away.

Psalm 18:6  In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

Letting Go

8/6/2012

One of the hardest things to our human nature is letting go.  Letting go of a loved one due to death, break-ups, etc. or letting go of bad habit, bad friends, or certain situations.  Yes, letting go and freeing ourselves from unnecessary pain and heartache. Letting go of dead weight that we don’t even have to carry around.  Letting go of our EGO so GOD can step in and work.  Think about it; some things are totally out of our control; therefore, if we can’t change it then we must change ourselves.  How can God work in our lives when we are still holding onto things that we know we should let go of?  You see, God can only work when we allow Him to.  He’s a just God. He won’t overstep His boundaries.  He gave us freedom of choice and when we make the choice to let HIM handle all situations then He can give us freedom.  He can ease the pain, heal the heartache, deliver the drug addict, send the right man, send the right woman, bless us with the right job and lighten our load.  Today let us pray that God will help us to learn to let go that HE may do HIS perfect work in our lives.

Blessings, Lady M.
